Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR CONTESTANTS:
 
- Entries must follow competition theme "I am Ashurbanipal King of Assyria, King of the World", and "Living Assyria" after the reign of Ashurbanipal from modern-day perspective.
- Applicants must be of age 18 years or older.
- The competition is open to flat art in any medium. It can be in the form of painting in any water-based or oil-based medium, drawing, 2-dimensional collage or mixed media.
- Photography, digital art of any type, and 3-dimensional work will not be considered in this competition. 
- There is no restriction on painting style and genre.
- The submissions must be created solely by the participating artist and must be original in concept, design, and execution. Submissions shall not violate U.S. copyright laws. 
- Content based on another artist's work, based on a photograph taken by another person, or created under another person's supervision are not eligible. 
 
SELELCTION and PRIZES:
- All the entries will be juried by a panel composed of talented jurors. The jurors are selected by AAASJ in collaboration with ALCT based on their diverse qualifications and backgrounds.
- All the jurors have extensive experience in the arts and a passion for Assyrian creative culture.
- The 3 winners of "Pargona"  will be rewarded cash prizes. 1st place will receive $3000, 2nd place will receive $2000, and 3rd place will receive $1000.
- The organizers of the competition will make every effort to promote all the accepted juried entries, including, but not limited to, displaying them in a virtual Art Gallery on AAASJ website, and social media. 
 
ARTWORK SUBMISSION:
- Artists must submit their work via pargona.artcall.org (more convenient) or email a high-resolution jpeg or png image of their artwork to pargona@aaasj.org.
- The size of the file must be under 4 MB if submitted via pargona.artcall.org, and must be under 3 MB - if submitted via email. 
- Each artist is allowed to submit up to 3 entries.
- All submissions must include title, dimensions (Height x Width), medium of each artwork, and a description of the artwork in 250 words or less.
- All participants must provide an artist's autobiography in third person, with a maximum word count of 1000 words.
- Entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM PST on Feb 4, 2019.
 
FEES and COMMISSIONS: 
- There is no entry fee for participating in "Pargona".
 
GENERAL:
- The organizers of "Pargona" reserve the right to exclude any submission for any reason from the competition.
- The competition organizers reserve the right to use the pictures of the submitted artworks in any and all media for any purpose, including documentaries, educational purposes and publicity purposes. The organizers will credit the artists when using their artwork.
- Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and fees associated with the receipt of a prize.
- Any statement in this document is "Void Where Prohibited by Law".
